Caffè Americano Ingredients: Espresso (first), then Hot Water
Caffè Americano or Americano is a style of coffee prepared by adding hot water to espresso, espresso first, secondly hot water. This brewing method giving it a similar strength to, but different flavor from, regular drip coffee. The taste or strength of an Americano varies with the number of shots of espresso and amount of water added. It looks simple like combining hot water to espresso, but the order must be correct.
Correct method to prepare “Americano”:
1. Add some amount of espresso first
2. Then hot water to be added
3. It will end up water on top, espresso on the bottom
Tips: If adding espresso to a smaller volume of water (espresso on the top, hot water at bottom), you are actually end up making a long black.
The best way to discover the different, of course, is to try a cup yourself.
